SPIRITUALITY - the journey begins
We all have spiritual needs; a need for peace, for acceptance, reassurance and love. We search for meaning, significance, purpose and belonging. Our common sense tells us that not all of these needs can be met from within. We sometimes have to look outside ourselves to satisfy our own spiritual yearnings and to find beauty and fulfillment. Plenty have tried to fill that inner space with material goods, expensive homes and fast cars, yet have wound up empty. Even some spiritual paths have been tried and found wanting. Millions around the world have grown tired of staid, religious tradition and are yearning for a genuine experience of the Divine. Does this Higher Being have a personality? Or is the Divine an impersonal force that pervades every part of our consciousness? How can we know the truth? Does Truth even exist?
There are many angles from which to view this topic, and many sources from which we can gain insight. Let's look at two.
First a question which not only impinges on our own personal spirituality, but also if true would change the world, the question of a Messiah. Many traditions have a Messiah figure whom they hope will come to resolve the world's problems. In the same way today's Western society puts its faith in messianic ideals such as reducing carbon or giving millions to charity to save our world. However, this idea began many thousands of years ago with the ancient Hebrew people of the Middle East. Many, although not all, of their descendants still await the coming of the Messiah. But is this a credible notion? And where is the evidence?
Secondly, the question of angels. Millions today with a deep spiritual hunger are fascinated by the subject of angels, hoping perhaps that contact with a guardian angel would calm their fears and be the answer they have been searching for.
Choose your next step carefully: Messiah or Angels? Angels or Messiah? Take your time; let these deep spiritual truths sink into your consciousness. When you reach the end of the path, stop, sit back, and consider what you've read. How could your life change? Is this a fork in the road for you? Could your life take a new direction? Which path will you take?
